ENERGY EFFICIENT GLAZING SYSTEMS

ARE YOU THINKING OF INSTALLING NEW WINDOWS, DOORS OR A CONSERVATORY?
REGARDLESS OF WHICH INSTALLER YOU USE AND WHETHER THE FRAMES ARE TIMBER OR UPVC, CHECK BEFORE SIGNING OR PARTING WITH ANY MONEY TO ENSURE THE TRADESMAN WILL BE INSTALLING THE CORRECT SAVEHEAT GLAZING SYSTEM.
BUILDING (SCOTLAND) REGULATIONS 2004 – SECTION 6 (DOMESTIC) REVISED 1 MAY 2007
From 1 May 2007, windows, doors and roof lights must have a maximum u-value of 1.8 w/m2k. As a substitute, a window energy rating of band D will be acceptable. Installing the correct SAVEHEAT glazing system will ensure you are complying with this section of the regulation.
COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is a ‘U’ value? – A ‘U’ value is a measure of heat loss from a building. The lower the value the better the performance.
How will anyone be able to tell if I don’t install the correct windows? – If you don’t have the correct windows installed, you could be storing up trouble for the future. When you eventually come to sell your house, a surveyor may use a glass analysis gauge to establish whether or not the correct glass has been used. If an unscrupulous installer has fitted substandard glazing you may have problems with the house sale and could find yourself having to replace all the glass before the sale can proceed. SAVEHEAT glazing systems are easily identified by the SAVEHEAT trademark inside the cavity ensuring you have the genuine top grade product and not a substitute.
